Dana Little, Urban Design Director and Jessica Seymour, Principal Program Coordinator of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council will present the first CRA Open Space Plan for the Port Salerno CRA. This plan will outline the potential opportunities to increase green space, community connections and neighborhood amenities in the Port Salerno CRA. It was presented to the Port Salerno Neighborhood Advisory Committee on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
Chapter 18 Community Development Element in the Martin County Comprehensive Growth Management Plan calls for an Open Space Plan to be developed for each CRA area.
18.4A. To facilitate attainment of a coordinated system of public open space and recreation areas within the CRAs.
18.4A.1. An open space plan that indicates the general location of desired open space and pedestrian and cyclist connectivity through the community shall be prepared for each CRA.
The Port Salerno Open Space Plan includes the production of vector-based, scaled drawings, GIS based drawings, and PDFs identifying existing public open space(s) and proposed locations for future desirable public open space(s) which promote a connected and resilient neighborhood. This may include recommendations for targeted land acquisition and/or making improvements to existing CRA or County-owned land as necessary to achieve the CGMP objectives.

This item has been reviewed for legal sufficiency to determine whether it is consistent with applicable
law, and legal staff have identified and addressed legal risks and developed strategies for legal defensibility, as applicable.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Hear the presentation, provide input as necessary and make a motion to adopt the Port Salerno Open Space Plan.
