BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

 

On November 12, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners authorized and approved the surplus of two County owned properties that were determined no longer needed for County purposes.

 

1.                     Palm City Property - 1110 SW Martin Downs Blvd. Palm City, FL 34990 - designated as surplus property to be auctioned to the best and highest bidder through public auction with all funds to be used for affordable housing.

 

2.                     Indiantown Property - 15655 SW Osceola St., Indiantown, Fl 34956 - convey to the Village of Indiantown, a municipal corporation chartered under the laws of the State of Florida as allowed by Florida Statute 125.38, to The Village of Indiantown for governmental purposes.

 

A copy of the Action Summary approving the duly advertised Public Hearing item for surplus property on November 12, 2024, has been attached to this agenda item. 

 

Pursuant to Florida Statute 125.35 the Board of County Commissioners is authorized to sell and convey any real property whenever the board determines that it is in the best interest of the County to do so, to the highest and best bidder after a public hearing and adoption of a resolution declaring the property as surplus.

 

Pursuant to Florida Statute 125.38 the Board of County Commissioners is authorized to convey county-owned property any municipality of this state which may be organized for the purposed of promoting community interest and welfare.

RECOMMENDATION

Move that the Board adopt a Resolution approving the disposition of two County-owned properties that were previously determined for surplus by the Martin County Board of County Commissioners.
