BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
1. Agreement/Contract drafted by: State of Florida Department of Health.
2. Parties to the Agreement/Contract: FDOH and Martin County Board of County Commissioners.
3. Purpose of the Agreement/Contract: To enable the MCHD to set a fee schedule for their clients and to allow for the operation of the MCHD.
4. New/Renewal/Modified: This is a new contract for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
5. Duration: Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (FY2026-27).
6. Benefits to Martin County: Enables Martin County residents to avail themselves of the services provided by the MCHD.
7. Cost to Martin County: $710,026 FY2026-2027 Budget.
The contract between Martin County Board of County Commissioners and FDOH for operation of the MCHD contract year 2026-2027 reflects a total MCHD Operating Budget of $7,007,206 (a decrease of $298,009 from the FY2025-2026 contract total). This decrease is attributable to the completion and payment for reconfiguration of the Stuart facility to improve safety, security and patient flow. The contract outlines the various services provided by the MCHD along with the associated fees and reporting requirements. The project also established clearer boundaries between MCHD and Florida Community Health Center to help clients better understand who is actually providing their care, an issue that has persisted over time.
In addition to the foregoing budget amount, non-cash/in-kind State contributions of products and services valued at $3,635,487 are planned. This amount is made up of medications distributed to clients in our clinics, some state lab services, vaccine and $3,019,268 from the women, infants, and children (WIC) food and nutrition products issued to residents.
