Every year the Board of County Commissioners adopts a state and federal legislative program that outlines the county's legislative priorities. This presentation will discuss the proposed 2026 Legislative Priorities and direction of the legislative program for the upcoming year.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
Members of the Board of County Commissioners and legislative staff advocate for both policy measures and appropriation requests in the state capitol in Tallahassee and in Washington, DC, on behalf of Martin County. The state and federal legislative priorities are outlined in the legislative programs. The county also contracts with legislative and environmental consultants to ensure the county's priorities are more strongly represented at both the state and federal levels. This presentation will outline the 2026 state and federal priorities and discuss the strategy for the legislative team as Martin County enters another year advocating for a range of topics, including environmental restoration, water quality, infrastructure improvements, and home rule.
The state and federal legislative programs will be submitted via a Supplemental Memorandum.
