BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Pursuant to Section 155.38.C., General Ordinances, Martin County Code, “The County Engineer will request the Board of County Commissioners adopt a resolution acknowledging the roads that were opened by recorded plat or road opening permits ( … ) each year.  The resolution will include the road name, classification, length, limits, pavement width, material, stormwater management technique, road right-of-way width, sidewalk width and location, maintenance responsibility, and other factors that the County Engineer feels suitable for the road inventory.”

There have been five plats recorded in unincorporated Martin County since July 1, 2025, which were approved administratively and not by the Board of County Commissioners.  These plats opened five new road segments as depicted in Exhibit A.  The following road segments are: local roads that will be within newly platted rights-of-way that are owned and will be maintained by a private entity; and posted with a 25 MPH speed limit.

                     SW Poma Drive in the Seven J’s North Subdivision - from its northern terminus to SE Joseph Court (approximately 5,671 feet);

                     SW James Court in the Seven J’s North Subdivision - from SW Poma Drive to its northern terminus (approximately 557 feet);

                     SE Baron Way in Baron Landings - from SR-76 (S Kanner Highway) to its eastern terminus (approximately 237 feet);

                     SE Royale Preserve Way in the Preserve at Park Trace Roadway PUD and Cove Royale PUD Phase 2 Plat - from its southern terminus to SE Park Trace Drive (approximately 543 feet);

                     SE Lake Shore Drive in Preserve at Loblolly North PUD - from SE Gomez Avenue to SE Loblolly Bay Drive (approximately 653 feet);

More detailed information for each segment is provided in Exhibit B.

Each road segment was (or will be) reviewed and inspected by its Engineer of Record and County staff for compliance with the Martin County Land Development Regulations, Martin County Standard Details for Road & Site Construction and Public Facilities, and applicable State standards.  A Certification of Construction Completion was (or will be) accepted by the County Engineer.

The Board of County Commissioners is asked to adopt a resolution accepting each road segment into the County’s Road Inventory.
