BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Since 2018, the Martin County AIPP program has worked collaboratively with MartinArts in support of the county’s annual, premier arts festival, ArtsFest. The Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) has voted unanimously to allocate an annual sponsorship of $10,000 to ArtsFest from the AIPP Capital Project budget.

As always, the Martin County AIPP program will continue to focus on marketing our mission and programs, educating the community about public art, our art inventory and how to get involved.

The “visual” activity that the AIPP program will be sponsoring this year in collaboration with MartinArts, Martin County’s public schools, and our talented local artists, will be our first Chalk Walk!   Five or more “squares” (estimated 6’ x 6’) will be marked off, one for each Martin County middle school, and maybe others.  MartinArts received an Arts in Education grant which they are using to explore our communities’ level of access to the arts, and they have been working closely with the middle schools on that project, so they are the perfect partners.  Of course, there will be voting, which will be happening at the Martin County AIPP booth located near the live action. AIPP staff will organize and operate the People’s Choice Award from the booth during the two-day event.  The artists will not have a theme to limit their creativity.

AIPP will also receive its usual benefits: booth space, tent, chairs, tables and program advertising.

Jennifer Hearn, Sr. Programs Manager with MartinArts can answer any questions as well.
