BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

 

Martin County Comprehensive Plan Policy 5.2A.12 Promoting “Complete Streets”.  To the extent feasible, the County shall promote and implement the concept of “Complete Streets” that accommodate all users, including motorized vehicles, bicyclists, public transportation vehicles and riders, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities. 

 

Martin County is seeking the assistance of the TCRPC to develop a Complete Streets design concept that will be used during the design phase of the SE Dixie Highway (from SE Cove Road to SE Jefferson Street) Complete Streets project.  The construction of the project is being funded by a Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) grant from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).  This construction funding is programmed into the FDOT Five Year Work Program for Fiscal Year 27.

 

The Public Works Department is seeking approval of an Interlocal Agreement with TCRPC (“Agreement”) as follows:

1.                     Agreement drafted by:  Martin County and TCRPC

2.                     Parties to the Agreement: Martin County and TCRPC

3.                     Purpose of the Agreement:  To assist the County with developing a Complete Streets design concept for the SE Dixie Highway Complete Streets project.

4.                     This is a new agreement.

5.                     Duration:  Approximately 2 months

6.                     Benefits to Martin County:  Assistance with the development of the Complete Streets design concept.

7.                     Cost to Martin County:  Thirty-Four Thousand Dollars ($34,000)
