This is a request to initiate amendments to the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan (CGMP) and the Land Development Regulations (LDR) for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) as directed by the Board of County Commissioners (BCC).

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

 

On June 17, 2025, the BCC directed staff to research and propose revisions to the CGMP and/or the LDR for ADUs in the furtherance of providing affordable housing. After researching the County and state regulations for ADUs, Guesthouses, and/or Guest houses, staff has determined that revisions to the CGMP and LDRs are necessary to facilitate the directive of the BCC. The attached resolution will allow staff to recommend updates to the CGMP and LDRs regarding the subject of Accessory Dwelling Units.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

 

RECOMMENDATION

Move that the Board approve the resolution to initiate amendments the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan and the Land Development Regulations regarding the subject of Accessory Dwelling Units and similar terms.
