BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
Roadway corridors may have multiple names simultaneously, as assigned by each agency with jurisdictional authority, with "US" referring to roadway corridors under FEDERAL jurisdiction, "SR" referring to roadway corridors under STATE jurisdiction, and "CR" referring to roadway corridors under COUNTY jurisdiction. Roadways without these acronyms are typically LOCAL roadways.
On November 5, 2025, Martin County and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) executed a Road Jurisdiction Transfer Agreement, wherein the FDOT transferred its jurisdiction over SR-732 (NW and NE Jensen Beach Boulevard) between SR-5 (US-1 / NW Federal Highway) and CR-723 (NE Savannah Road) and SR-732 (NE Causeway Boulevard) between CR-707 (NE Indian River Drive) and SR-A1A (NE Ocean Boulevard) to Martin County. SR-732, as formerly designated, was not a continuous route through Jensen Beach. Staff recommends the Board designate a continuous route to be known as County Road 732 (CR-732) along the major arterials in Jensen Beach starting at SR-5 (US-1 / NW Federal Highway) and ending at SR-A1A (NE Ocean Boulevard), which consists of the following segments as depicted on Exhibit A of the proposed resolution:
1. NW Jensen Beach Boulevard from SR-5 (US-1 / NW Federal Highway) to NW Green River Parkway;
2. NE Jensen Beach Boulevard from NW Green River Parkway to NE Pineapple Avenue;
3. NE Pineapple Avenue from NE Jensen Beach Boulevard to CR-707 (NE Indian River Drive); and
4. NE Causeway Boulevard from CR-707 (NE Indian River Drive) to SR-A1A (NE Ocean Boulevard).
Also on November 5, 2025, Martin County transferred its jurisdiction over CR-714 (SW Martin Highway) from Florida’s Turnpike to SR-76 (S Kanner Highway) and SE Indian Street from SR-76 (S Kanner Highway) to SR-5 (US-1 / SE Federal Highway) to the FDOT. The FDOT has designated this route as State Road 718, as depicted on the attached SR-718 Exhibit.
Staff in the Martin County Traffic Engineering Division and the FDOT Fort Pierce Maintenance Office will coordinate to change the guide signs for these newly designated corridors.
