Martin County and the City of Stuart entered an Interlocal Agreement in 2014 for Traffic Signal Maintenance.  Martin County maintains all the traffic signals in the incorporated and unincorporated Martin County and the City compensates Martin County for maintenance of the traffic signals on City streets.

In June 2023, the City’s Community Redevelopment Agency (City CRA) Board approved wrapping traffic signal controller cabinets within its Community Redevelopment Area boundaries.  The Traffic Signal Artwork Wrap Project was funded in the City CRA’s FY24 budget.  City CRA staff and Martin County Traffic Engineering staff identified locations where vinyl artwork could be wrapped around the exterior surface of the traffic signal controller cabinets within the Community Redevelopment Area.  The First Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement sets forth the terms of the project and ensures the City will bear all costs associated with the installation, maintenance, replacement, and removal of the artwork and that the County shall not incur any costs related to the project.
