On March 24, 2026, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) adopted Resolution No. 26-3.14 accepting a Special Warranty Deed from the Martin County Community Redevelopment Agency, declaring the 1.0124-acre parcel adjacent to Booker Park as surplus, and authorizing staff to prepare a Contract for the sale of the property to the Village for continued governmental recreational purposes in the amount of $275,000.
Pursuant to Section 125.38, Florida Statutes, when property is determined not needed for County purposes, the County may convey the property to any municipality or governmental agency within the State of Florida for public or community interest and welfare, for an agreed upon consideration, without the requirement for public advertisement.
Pursuant to Section 274.05, Florida Statutes, the County may offer to sell or donate surplus property to other governmental units in the county.
Staff prepared the Contract for the sale of the property to the Village at a fair market value of $275,000, and at its July 23, 2026, regular Village Council Meeting, the Village approved the purchase of the County-owned parcel and executed the Contract.
There are several outstanding Code Enforcement liens on the property that are currently being removed, and appropriate releases will be recorded in the Public Records of Martin County.
Proceeds from the sale will be deposited into the County’s General Fund.
