BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
The Environmental Lands Oversight Committee (ELOC) was created via Resolution No. 25-2.14 on February 11, 2025 pursuant to Section 6(1)j of Martin County Ordinance Number 1221. The ELOC shall have the duty and responsibility to provide citizen oversight and conduct and coordinate any necessary studies to determine appropriate lands to acquire from the funding provided by the surtax. The ELOC shall make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
The ELOC will include members from the following nine organizations:
* Martin County Forever
* The Everglades Foundation
* Rivers Coalition
* Audubon of Martin County
* Martin County Taxpayers Association
* Martin County Realtors Association
* Economic Development Council
* Martin County Farm Bureau Inc.
* University of Florida Institute of Food & Agriculture Science Extension Martin County's 4H Youth Development Program
Meetings of the ELOC shall be quarterly or more frequently as directed by staff, the ELOC Chair, or a majority of the members. The regular meeting dates, time, and location of their meetings will be established at their first meeting, and their agendas will be published to the County's web site in a timely manner. Five members constitute a quorum.
Each ELOC member shall be determined at the time of their appointment. At the initial appointment, the terms of office of the members shall be for 4 years, except that four of the members first appointed shall be designated to serve terms of 2 y...
