Since 1978, the former Hobe Sound Landfill, located along SE Bridge Road east of SE 138th Street and west of SE Otter Lake Drive, has been used as a recreational go-kart racing track. On July 24, 2012, the County entered into a public purpose lease agreement with South Florida Karting Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, which operates a public go-kart racing track on the County-owned property where children and families can participate in a safe and regulated racing environment thereby promoting a healthy outlet for children and families alike to learn sportsmanship while teaching early driving skills to our youth prior to becoming licensed drivers.
