MANATEE POCKET MOSAIC PROJECT - REQUEST TO RE-ADVERTISE CALL TO ARTISTS

end

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:executive summary

Staff recommends that the Public Art Advisory Committee consider a motion to reject all submissions received under the original Call to Artists for the Manatee Pocket Mooring Field Upland Facility Mosaic Project and approve re-advertising the call with revised parameters. A review of the submissions revealed that the majority were incomplete due to the omission of a wayfinding signage design. Based on this and with further evaluation, staff believes the requirement for a complementary wayfinding component may have discouraged otherwise qualified applicants. The revised call would eliminate the wayfinding element and focus solely on the mosaic installation.
