BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
The Hobe Sound Beach Ocean Rescue Building was approved by the Board of County Commissioners as an amendment to the Capital Improvement Plan in Fiscal Year 2023. The new building will provide ADA compliant restrooms for the public, a storage room for safety gear, supplies and equipment as well as a room where First Responders can provide aid to visitors in need of various types of assistance. In addition, a new resilient/hardened building would adequately support the needs of the Ocean Rescue services. The approved Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) sheet for the project is attached.
The construction of multiple buildings in a tight location and within a very short construction window, as required by the Town of Jupiter Island, is best managed through the CMAR process. The construction manager will provide plan and phasing review comments during the design phase of the project instead of providing change orders that typically develop during projects using the Design-Bid-Build process. The construction manager will also provide a project schedule and detailed cost estimates earlier in the process, during the design versus waiting until the project is bid as with the Design-Bid-Build process.
