Staff with the Environmental Resource Division of the Public Works Department have worked to plan and develop a project aimed at reducing harmful nutrient loads entering the SW Prong. The SW Prong is the last major tributary of the Manatee Pocket to receive necessary water quality treatment and is critical to improving the overall health of the waterway. The project will construct a treatment train consisting of an approximately 0.5-acre wet detention pond, 1.5 acres of wetland restoration, diversion weir structures, enhanced vegetated channels, and a Summit High-Performance Upflow Filter System utilizing bioactive media.
