BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

On August 23, 2026, while walking across her apartment pool deck, 20-year-old Madison Isler noticed something no one ever wants to see: a 3-year-old child lying motionless at the bottom of the swimming pool.

Without hesitation, Madison jumped into action. She pulled the child from the water, recognized that they were blue, unresponsive and not breathing. Madison immediately began CPR while yelling for anyone that could hear her to call 911. A PICU nurse nearby heard the commotion and rushed to help. Together, they continued lifesaving efforts until the child responded and began to recover. Thanks to Madison’s efforts, when MCFR paramedics transported the child to the hospital, she was alert and oriented.

Today, we recognize Madison for her heroic and selfless actions in a moment when it mattered most. She is an incredible young lady who doubles as a beloved babysitter in her community. Madison’s parents are both in fire rescue, and she regularly practices CPR and emergency-response techniques with them. She takes those opportunities seriously and strives to be as prepared as possible to protect and care for the children entrusted to her.

Because of Madison’s courage, quick thinking and willingness to act in a moment of crisis, the 3-year-old child was given a second chance at life.
