BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
In January 2021, Sailfish Sands Golf Course reopened to the public and has since operated for nearly three full golf seasons. The Reversible 9-hole course, known as the Sands Black Course, when played counterclockwise and the Sands Gold Course when played clockwise, was initially rotated every two weeks. However, this schedule was adjusted to monthly rotations due to high labor costs and customer complaints regarding confusion caused by design and routing issues.
Throughout the 2023/2024 golf shoulder and peak season, the course was maintained in the Sands Black direction to minimize confusion and reduce labor costs. Staff have gained valuable insights into the golf course during these seasons, leading to the implementation of new routing signage, the addition of starter booths, the integration of golf cart technology for an improved golfing experience, and the creation of new golf features such as a short game area and an open hole for instructional purposes.
This agenda item proposes a limited schedule that would allow for the continued use of both courses, aiming to save on labor costs and enhance customer service.
