BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Agreement drafted by: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) legal staff
Parties to the Agreement: FDOT and Martin County
Purpose of the Agreement: To establish responsibility for maintaining streetlights along roads on the State Highway System and to establish a rate of compensation
New/Renewal/Modified: The Agreement supersedes those Agreements executed in 2003
Duration: Seven years
Benefits to Martin County: Maintaining the streetlights on the State Highway System allows the County to achieve an economy of scale for an in-house street light crew that maintains County streetlights, resulting in more cost-effective and efficient operations while providing a more timely and responsive level of service compared to FDOT or its contractors.
Cost to Martin County: The County receives compensation for maintaining the streetlights.
The County authorized the Chair to execute four State Highway Lighting, Maintenance, and Compensation Agreements with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in June 2003. The FDOT has recently updated the State Highway Lighting, Maintenance, and Compensation Agreement (Agreement) to:
