This request is for the adoption of a Resolution accepting future land acquisitions of individually owned environmentally sensitive lands through tax deed sale within Poinciana Gardens. The funding for these parcels will utilize revenue from the one-half cent (0.5%) Local Governmental Infrastructure Surtax for properties recommended by the Environmental Lands Oversight Committee (ELOC) and approved by the Board of County Commissioners (Board).

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
The undeveloped western portion of Poinciana Gardens contains roughly 200+ acres of wetland and environmentally sensitive lands. The Poinciana Gardens parcels were listed at number 15 on the ELOC's priority list of 16 approved projects by the Board on October 21, 2025, as part of the November 2024 10-year tax referendum for environmentally sensitive lands.
Martin County Currently owns approximately 56-acres within the Poinciana Gardens western unopened section.
With the Board's approval, staff would like to participate in online Tax Deed Sales through the Martin County Clerk of the Circuit Court. In order to efficiently expedite the process of acquiring these environmentally sensitive properties, staff is seeking adoption of a resolution approving and accepting all future deeds, acceptable to the County Attorney's office, at a price consistent with prior acquisitions within the designated section of Poinciana Gardens.
