The Office of Community Development will submit an FY 2027 tentative operating budget to the Martin County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) in July 2026. Operating costs have increased 3.02% based on contractual obligations for a total of $24,134.00. The operational budget was adjusted within line items to better reflect actual expenditures and the operational needs anticipated for FY27, but no aggregate increase in these line items.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
The Office of Community Development continues to successfully operate the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Martin County Art in Public Places program (AIPP) and the Martin County Historic Preservation Board (HPB). Achievements include 5 project awards in FY 2026!
CRA projects remain focused on infrastructure installation and improvement in all six CRA areas, as we concentrate on the completion of each area's Community Redevelopment Plan through our Capital Improvement Projects. Martin County's public art inventory increased by three fabulous projects (Port Salerno Mosaic, "Windy Day" sculpture, Hobe Sound Library mural and book benches) with plans for many exciting things to come in FY 2027. We continue to raise the profile of the County's Historic Preservation Board (HPB) through increased meeting participation, Historic Preservation month activities and the Preservationist of the Year celebration.
LEGAL SUFFICIENCY REVIEW:
This item has been reviewed for legal sufficiency to determine whether it is consistent with applicable law, and legal staff have identified and addressed legal risks and developed strategies for legal defensibility, as applicable.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Move that the Agency approve the FY 2027 tentative operating budget and recommend approval and final adoption by the Board of County Commissioners.
