The Supervisor of Elections periodically amends voting precincts for a variety of reasons such as polling location changes, population adjustments, voting trends, among others. Chapter 101.001 FS provides a requirement that the Board of County Commissioners approve changes to precinct creation and boundaries.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Attached to this Agenda Item Summary is the request from Supervisor of Elections Vicki Davis to modify precincts as listed:

* TC3 Church is no longer available as a polling location
* Adjust precinct boundary lines for Precincts 2 and 4
* Creation of Precinct 29
* New polling location for Precinct 2 will be Grace Presbyterian Church located on Britt Road
* Polling location for Precinct 4 will remain Langford Park
* New polling location for Precinct 29 will be Jensen Beach Community Church located on Skyline Drive

From Section 101.001(1) Florida Statutes:
Precincts and polling places; boundaries.
(1) The board of county commissioners in each county, upon recommendation and approval of the supervisor, shall alter or create precincts for voting in the county. Each precinct shall be numbered and, as nearly as practicable, composed of contiguous and compact areas. The supervisor shall designate a polling place at a suitable location within each precinct. The precinct shall not be changed thereafter except with the consent of the supervisor and a majority of the members of the board of county commissioners.
