BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Resolution 12-5.5 adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on May 8, 2012 approved and accepted the Deeds and Temporary Construction Easements for parcels 1-12 identified for the Project.  Deeds and Temporary Construction Easements for parcels 13 and 14 and a Utility Easement for parcel 12 have since been identified as necessary for completion of the Project. The resolution included with this item approves and accepts the identified Deeds and Easements for parcels 12-14 and any additional documents conveying an interest in land to Martin County that may be necessary for the completion of the Project.

The Project includes the addition of on-street, back-in parking, new sidewalks, and landscaping, all of which will increase pedestrian activity in the heart of Hobe Sound. With these improvements, the Project will transform the character of CR-708 (SE Bridge Road) and SE Lares Avenue. The posted speed limit on CR-708 (SE Bridge Road) between SR-5 (US-1 / SE Federal Highway) and CR-A1A (SE Dixie Highway) and on SE Lares Avenue between CR-708 (SE Bridge Road) and CR-A1A (SE Dixie Highway) is currently 30 MPH.  Staff recommends that the posted speed limit be reduced to 25 MPH during construction and that the posted speed limit remain at 25 MPH on these sections of CR-708 (SE Bridge Road) and SE Lares Avenue after construction is complete.
