County Transfer Station

7.                     Cost to Martin County:                                          $35 per ton, adjusted annually

The Martin County Transfer Station currently accepts tires from its customers for disposal. In January 2019 the County’s agreement with the Wheelabrator Ridge Waste to Energy Facility ended due to the closure of the facility. Temporarily, the Martin County Transfer Station is using Liberty Tire for the disposal and recycling of passenger tires.

Currently Liberty Tire accepts the County’s waste passenger tires for a cost of $105 per ton. Due to this cost, Martin County Solid Waste has explored the opportunity to enter into an Interlocal agreement with the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County for this service at a rate of $35 per ton.
