Staff reviewed the makeup of the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee which will address problems and aid in finding solutions associated with drug and alcohol abuse. Therefore, if approved, the following will be the new makeup of the Committee:
1. Youth member (non-voting)
2. Parent of a youth in Martin County
3. Business Representative of Martin County
4. Representative of Martin County School District
5. Representative of a youth serving organization in Martin County
6. Representative of a law enforcement officer in Martin County
7. Representative of a religious/fraternal organization in Martin County
8. Representative of a civic/volunteer group in Martin County
9. Health care professional or organization that treats citizens of Martin County
10. State or local government agency with expertise in the field of substance abuse
All members shall be appointed for three-year terms which shall be staggered. For the initial appointment, the member filling categories 1 through 3 will serve for one year; the members filling categories 4 through 6 will serve for two years; and the members filling categories 7 through 10 will serve for three years.
After approval of the Resolution, Administration staff will send chair letters and Certificates of Appreciation to the current members thanking them for their service. The letters and certificates will be signed by the Chairman. Administration staff will also solicit applicants for the new membership. It is anticipated that the Agenda Item to appoint members will return to the Board of County Commissioners at their September 24, 2019 meeting.

RECOMMENDATION
Move that the Board adopt the Resolution amending the makeup and membership of the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee.
