BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
On March 19, 2019, the Board considered a Consent Agenda Item prepared by the Building Department requesting the approval of an increase in reinspection fees. In addition, a new fee was proposed for the review of any project revisions submitted after the building permit has been approved and/or issued. Recently, it was discovered that the resolution attached to the agenda item and approved through the approval of the March 19, 2019 Consent Agenda was not the correct document. Accordingly, Resolution No. 19-3.4 should be rescinded.
On March 19, 2019, the Building Department sought approval of an increase in reinspection fees from $45 to $100 for the first failed reinspection and $200 for every failed reinspection thereafter. As part of the preparation of this agenda item, staff reviewed Section 553.80(2)(c), Florida Statutes which imposes a fee of four times the amount of the first reinspection after the third reinspection. Accordingly, the Building Department’s request has been adjusted to impose a fee of $100 for the first reinspection, $200 for the second and third reinspections, and $400 for the fourth and any subsequent reinspections.
As proposed on March 19th, the Building Department is requesting approval of a revision fee of $50 per page for each page submitted after the second submittal.
The attached resolution would rescind Resolution No. 19-3.4 and implement the requested fees effective November 1, 2019.
