BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
At the July 28, 2020 Board meeting, there was an agenda item on the possibility of hiring the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) to assist the County with a charette and other items to determine the best use for the County's fairground property located on Dixie Highway. During the presentation of the agenda item, a discussion commenced on the status of the Fairgrounds relating to the efforts that are being made to locate the Fair to County property in the western area of the County.
During the deliberation of the agenda item, staff was asked to return to the Board at the next meeting, August 11, 2020, and inform the Board of the status once staff was able to have conversations with the Fair Manager and legal counsel that has been assisting the Fair Manager and Fair Association, and the status thereof. The County Attorney has been able to discuss the current status of the Fair with the Fair Manager and their legal counsel, and is of the opinion that the County has done everything possible up to this point to cooperate with those involved on behalf of the Fair and moving the Fair to a different site in western County. Staff is and has been making themselves available as needed. Staff has also been working on securing possible grants to cover the expense of providing water and sewer to the western fairground site.
Staff will be prepared to provide the Board with a verbal update on any actions that may have transpired most recently.
