The State has approved the County’s application, pending determination from the National Park Service. The County must sign an Agreement to participate in the CLG Program.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
1. Agreement/Contract drafted by: Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources
2. Parties to the Agreement/Contract: Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources and Martin County Board of Commissioners.
3. Purpose of the Agreement/Contract: For Martin County to participate in the CLG Program.
4. New I Renewal/ Modified: This is a new Agreement.
5. Duration: Perpetual, unless the County is decertified by the State for failure to meet CLG Program requirements.
6. Benefits to Martin County: Bureau of Historic Preservation trainings and technical assistance as well as Small Matching Grants Program eligibility.
7. Cost to Martin County (annual and potential total): Staff time.
In March 2020, Martin County applied to the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Historical Resources to become a CLG under the State’s CLG Program. The State has reviewed the County’s application and determined the County meets the requirements for certification as a CLG, pending determination from the National Park Service. To participate, the County must now enter into a Certified Local Government Agreement with the State setting forth the responsibilities of the parties under the CLG Program.

Move that the Board approve the Certified Local Government Agreement and authorize the Chair to execute the Agreement.
