EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Board approval is requested for an Interlocal Agreement between the Martin County Board of County Commissioners (County) and the Town of Jupiter Island (Town). This Agreement will allow the Martin County Public Works Department to participate in a joint construction project performing water and sewer utility construction within the Gomez Corridor Conversion Area. The combination of these projects mitigates disruptions to the community providing cost, resource, and time efficiencies.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

1. Agreement drafted by: Town of Jupiter Island with comments from the County Attorney's Office. The Agreement has been approved and executed by the Town;

2. Parties to the Agreement: Martin County Board of County Commissioners and Town of Jupiter Island;

3. Purpose of the Agreement: To allow a joint construction project funded by the County and the Town within the Gomez Corridor Conversion Area to provide water and sewer improvements with conjunction to the Gomez Corridor Neighborhood Restoration project;

4. New/Renewal/Modified: New Agreement;

5. Duration: The Agreement will terminate when the water/sewer system components constructed under the Agreement are completed and transferred to the Town in accordance with the terms of the Agreement;

6. Benefits to Martin County: Provides septic to sewer expansion and water distribution improvements to County residents in a more cost and time efficient manner;
