Public Works Department has established the need for improved stormwater drainage in Palm City Farms, the project runs from Bessey Creek south, along SW 72nd, SW 75th, and SW 78th Avenues to Martin Highway. The project consists of obtaining 21 Drainage Easements from the property owners in the area and restoring the drainage system with improvements which will give the County the ability to maintain the drainage system.
The project will consist of re-grading the existing swales and installing culverts where needed at the proper elevation. The project will result in better stormwater flow capacity. The County will need to obtain drainage easements from each parcel owner, which documents will be approved by the County Attorney’s office prior to recording.
The Real Property Division will confirm ownership of each of the easement areas and obtain a Consent of Mortgagee where necessary.
Sec. 139.31 and 139.32, General Ordinances, Martin County Code requires that any conveyance of an interest in land to Martin County for any public purpose shall be accepted and approved by Resolution from the Board of County Commissioners of Martin County.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
RECOMMENDATION
Move that the Board adopt the Resolution accepting and approving the Drainage Easements from the owners the 21 parcels identified in Exhibit “A” , which are located south of Bessey Creek, along SW 72nd, SW 75th, and SW 78th Avenues to Martin Highway in Palm City, for the Palm City Farms Drainage Project and authorize the Chair to execute any and all documents necessary to complete this transaction.
