The School District is in the process of creating the state-required Boundary Advisory Committee (BAC) which will facilitate input from District staff, parents, and community members for the development of student demographics, expansion due to growth, and site selection. The School Board is requesting the County Commission to appoint one representative to this new Committee.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

This is an Additional Item as the School District is asking for a representative's name by July 19, 2021.

The Assistant County Administrator received a letter from Ginger Featherstone, Deputy Superintendent, requesting the Board appoint a representative to their Boundary Advisory Committee. The tasks for the committee include: reviewing student data, countywide population trends and growth patterns, providing recommendations regarding new school facilities in accordance with School Board Policies, recommending appropriate concurrency service areas and site boundaries with consideration given to age and appropriate feeder patterns, fulfilling any additional roles as assigned by the Superintendent or School Board Member, and making all decisions with consideration given to the needs of the entire County.

The first BAC meeting is scheduled for August 18, 2021 at 5:00 PM and will be held at the Stuart Learning Center, (1050 SE 10th Street, Stuart). It is anticipated that all meetings will be held at this same time and location and will meet on a monthly basis.
