BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

Section 420.9075(10), Florida Statutes, requires each county to annually submit to the FHFC a report of its affordable housing programs and accomplishments. The 2018/2019 SHIP grant is fully encumbered and active; however, a few projects have been delayed due to increased demand on contractors throughout the market and COVID-19. An extension was granted by FHFC for 2018/2019. SHIP grants for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 are also active and an interim report is required. The Martin County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) had a public meeting on September 1, 2021 and approved a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for the transmittal of the reports for approval and submission to the FHFC. Submission of the reports will provide compliance with the SHIP grant requirements.

ISSUES:

Due to project delays, an extension has been approved by FHFC for the active 2018/2019 SHIP grant close-out report, which will be brought forward for Board of County Commissioners approval once all encumbered funds have been spent.
