BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

The Restoring Resilient Reefs Act of 2021 will reauthorize the Coral Reef Conservation Act of 2000. Florida’s Coral Reef stretches approximately 350 miles through five counties including Martin County. Federal funding will be beneficial to the five counties for the preservation and restoration to the Florida Coral Reef.  In April of 2022 Monroe County adopted a Resolution urging U.S. Congress to pass the Restoring Resilient Reefs Act of 2021.  Broward and Palm Beach Counties have shown interest in adopting a similar Resolution.  Continued partnership within the five Florida counties will be beneficial to enrolling this legislation.
