BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

It is difficult to adequately describe Krista Storey’s contributions to Martin County over the last 25 years. She has served as legal counsel to the Growth Management Department providing legal review on all development applications and Comprehensive Plan amendment applications. She drafted amendments to the Land Development Regulations as needed for review by the LPA and BOCC. She served as legal counsel to many advisory boards, including LPA, BOZA, CILB, CRA, NACs and Historic Preservation Board which included providing Sunshine, Public Records and Ethics law training to all advisory board members.

Krista was indispensable in assisting our litigators in defending lawsuits, including Comprehensive Plan and LDR challenges. She served on the County’s team from GMD, Community Development and the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council that worked for years to create a CRA chapter for our Comprehensive Plan and to adopt form-based codes for all the CRA areas.

Krista served as legal counsel to the Building Department and Code Enforcement guiding the County’s Code Enforcement division to a special magistrate model.

Krista’s commitment to her County “clients” while remaining open to collaborate to find solutions and successful compromises has been key to both the avoidance of litigation as well as providing our litigators with a defensible case.

Krista is a true team player always ready to assist a co-worker and always going above and beyond.
