As the Art in Public Places program grows, residents, artists and organizations are becoming interested in taking advantage of the opportunities the program offers to the community. This agenda item will familiarize the Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) with some of those ideas and potential future projects.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
Staff will present a description of five (5) future project ideas
.
1. Eco Kayak Launch. AIPP has been approached by the Martin County Eco Systems Division to work with them in doing an eco-art project at the new kayak launch being constructed on Hutchinson Island in Jensen Beach. Staff would also like to include the Martin County Tourism Department.

2. Hobe Sound Library benches. The library is building a new outdoor space in Hobe Sound, as those in Palm City and Stuart have been super successful! This would be a different kind of project for AIPP. According to the AIPP manual, there are several different ways to acquire artwork. One of those methods is called "Direct Purchase". The criteria for a direct purchase would be project-specific (theme, purpose, location, medium, etc.) as defined in the Program Manual.

3. Hobe Sound Library mural. The library would also like to add a mural to its outdoor space.

4. Traffic box wraps. This has already been done in Palm City, utilizing Dr. Sentell's gorgeous photos of Florida birds. MartinArts might like to partner on this project as well.

5. Gillie and Marc. These artists are prolific creators of public art, and they have some very distinct characters, especially Rabbitwoman and Dogman! This is an example of the things that are out there for sale and could be wonderful in the County's parks and public areas. Sometimes they can also be used for temporary shows as well. Staff would like to start thinking about something new for the gazeb...
