BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee was created by Resolution No. 87-7.37 on July 28, 1987. Resolution No. 87-7.37 was rescinded in 2019 and again in 2020, and Resolution Nos. 19-11.3 and 20-2.21 were adopted to update the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee including makeup, terms, and change the Circuit Court Judge to a non-voting member. Resolution Nos. 19-11.3 and 20-2.21 are attached. The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee shall serve as an advisory committee to the County Commissioners on issues relating to adult and youth substance and alcohol abuse in Martin County. The Committee will make recommendations on programs and services that impact the community.

The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Awareness Committee meets quarterly in the Administration Building at 3:30 PM. Their agendas are published to the County's web site in a timely manner.

The Administration Staff received a letter of resignation from Dr. Angieszka Marshall (treatment representative) who has served on the Committee since January 2020. Per previous Board direction, Administration Staff sent Dr. Marshall a Certificate of Appreciation and a letter thanking her for serving which were signed by the Chairman.
