BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
The Interlocal Agreement for Creation of the MPO was executed on April 7, 2015. Signed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Martin County, City of Stuart and Town of Sewall's Point, this Interlocal Agreement recognized the MPO Board as being made up of seven voting members: four Martin County Commissioners, two City of Stuart Commissioners, and a Town of Sewall's Point Commissioner. FDOT and a representative of Indiantown served as non-voting members.
The First Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement was executed on February 7, 2019, after the Village of Indiantown became incorporated. The First Amendment made the Village of Indiantown Council representative a voting member on the MPO Board.
On October 23, 2023, the MPO Board reviewed its Apportionment Plan, a required work product, and approved a Resolution supporting the addition of a fifth Martin County Commissioner as a voting member to the MPO Board.
ISSUES:
Currently, the District 5 Martin County Commissioner is not on the MPO Board. Developments and projects occurring in St. Lucie County will significantly impact roadways in Martin County, such as CR-609/SW Allapattah Road and CR-714/SW Martin Highway.
