BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:
Permission to apply for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) FY21 Title 49 U.S.C. Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Program Funding. FTA appropriates Section 5307 funds annually on the basis of legislative formulas to assist urbanized areas with Transit in the following ways.
? Operating: This supports the fixed route services in the urbanized area, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Services.
? Capital: The Capital portion helps to fund the administrative costs, vehicle purchases, and software/hardware equipment procurements.
? Safety & Security Enhancements: This portion of the grant is used to purchase security and safety equipment such as surveillance cameras and lighting at transit locations, as required by the grant.
This grant is necessary to continue Public Transit Services in Martin County. Martin County must apply for this grant each year.
