The State has approved the County's application, pending determination from the National Park Service. The County must sign an Agreement to participate in the CLG Program.

BACKGROUND/RELATED STRATEGIC GOAL:

1. Agreement/Contract drafted by: Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources
2. Parties to the Agreement/Contract: Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources and Martin County Board of Commissioners.
3. Purpose of the Agreement/Contract: For Martin County to participate in the CLG Program.
4. New I Renewal/ Modified: This is a new Agreement.
5. Duration: Perpetual, unless the County is decertified by the State for failure to meet CLG Program requirements.
6. Benefits to Martin County: Bureau of Historic Preservation trainings and technical assistance as well as Small Matching Grants Program eligibility.
7. Cost to Martin County (annual and potential total): Staff time.

In March 2020, Martin County applied to the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Historical Resources to become a CLG under the State's CLG Program. The State has reviewed the County's application and determined the County meets the requirements for certification as a CLG, pending determination from the National Park Service. To participate, the County must now enter into a Certified Local Government Agreement with the State setting forth the responsibilities of the parties under the CLG Program.
